Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a coenzyme found in all living cells. It is a dinucleotide — a molecule composed of two nucleotides linked through their phosphate groups — one containing adenine and the other nicotinamide, a derivative of vitamin B3. NAD+ has a molecular weight of 663.43 g/mol and the formula C₂₁H₂₇N₇O₁₄P₂ (CAS 53-84-9). First described in 1906, NAD+ exists in two interconvertible forms: the oxidized form (NAD+) and the reduced form (NADH).
